Biography
Classical Guitarist Haydn Bateman has been giving concerts, performing music for weddings, private events and teaching guitar and piano in England and abroad for over 10 years. He provides guitar music for any occasion and is available to hire for your event and one to one/online teaching.
His music has delighted and entertained guests at numerous concerts, weddings, parties, corporate functions and many other events. Some high profile events include playing for the BBC Dragons Den for a private event, Performing ‘Cavatina’ from the film “The Deer Hunter” as a soloist. with The Royal College of Music Film Orchestra and Performing at the International Guitar Festival at Kings place in London.
As well as playing solo, Haydn regularly performs in a number of duos where he is accompanied by flute, violin, voice or another guitar.
Teaching Experience
- Teaching module as part of the Royal College of Music Degree
- Private teaching on a regular basis for the past eight years including beginners, intermediate and advanced levels
- Classical music, rock, jazz, pop
- Teaching students ranging from age 5-70
- Successfully prepared students for graded examinations for ABRSM and Trinity (including teaching aural, sight reading, theory)
- Piano teaching, beginner to grade 4
- Teaching privately for different agencies such as: Fireworks Music School, Lycaeum, Ruby School of Music, London Music Centre, Arts Revolution
- Teacher for Pelican Music, teaching piano, guitar and Academic music at Hampden Gurney Primary School, Wendell Park Primary School and Marlborough Primary School, Ark Conway academy, Melcombe primary school

Musical Experience
- RCM Guitar trio performances with the Royal Choral Society at the Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square and Colyer-Fergusson Hall in Canterbury
- Duo Piazzolla (flute and guitar duo) performance as part of the International guitar festival at Kings Place in London
- Concerts for the charity, Awards for young Musicians include playing in Castle of Mey (Scotland), Chester Square and Charter House
- Performed concerts in the halls at Chetham’s School of Music
- Performed concerts as a soloist, duet, trio, quartet and large guitar ensemble. Also with Singers and Flautists
- Performed in all of the concert halls at the RCM
- Performances with the Chetham’s Chorus include The Bridgewater Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Manchester Cathedral and Chester Hall
- Performing the Villa-Lobos Concerto at Chetham’s School of Music
- Performing in a Trio at BBC studios
- Filming a masterclass with world renowned classical guitarist Milos Karadaglic at Universal Studios. Performance in Shoreditch Hall with Milos Karadaglic
- A soloist with the RCM Film Orchestra
- Solo concerts in Spain, including Ronda and La Herradura
- Attended Iserlohn Guitar Festival in August 2014
- Performance at the Henley Festival
- Member of the National Youth Guitar Ensemble, led by Gerald Garcia for two years, performing in York, Oxford and Leicester

Haydn has taught my daughter the piano for years. He has huge amounts of patience and kindness. When my daughter learns with him, he shares his love of music, as well as all the practical skills. Sometimes they focus on songs that she’s passionate about, which really motivates her. We are not a very musical family, and it has been a real joy to watch my daughter get better and better at something I never managed to master, with Haydn’s guidance. My children have been having lessons with Haydn for a few years now and he has taken my son through a number of piano grades. I asked my children what they both thought of him and they told me that they liked Haydn because he is very understanding and patient, he always listens and he makes the piano fun. In particular he is very good at helping you to focus on what you need to be doing when you play and at explaining mistakes and the importance of finguring. They also both told me that he is also kind and caring. I can’t imaging better feedback than that!
